Vicarious bliss suomeen

Yksi pariisilaisen Ed banger levy-yhtiön suojateista, Vicarious bliss saapuu ensi kuussa Suomeen! Ed banger on, kuten osa teistä varmaan tietääkin, Pedro Winteinin (Busy P) vuonna 2002 perustama lafka. Se nousi, pitkän ug hypen jälkeen, suuren yleisön tietoisuuteen sellaisilla elektronisen musiikin mailmaa muokkaavilla artisteilla kuin uffie ja justice. Kukaan valistuneempi klubeilla kävijä ei varmaan ole voinut olla kuulematta viimevuoden hittejä kuten: justicen simianin “Never Be Alone” kappaleesta räätälöimän klubihittä tai teini-idoli uffien (joka muuten seurustelee Busy P:n kanssa) hot chick raitaa, jonka sanat ovat yhtä syvällisiä kuin kappaleen nimikin – sitä yhtään väheksymättä. Ed bangereitä hehkutettiin pitkään ottavan daft punkin paikan klubimusiikkiskenen kuninkaana ja nyt se näyttää tapahtuneen.

Ed bangereiden musiikki on hienolla tavalla vinksahtanutta. Vanhat disco samplet pilkotaan, sekoitetaan ja ohjataan törkeiden säröefektejen läpi. Koukut koostuu kappaleiden tuhoamisesta, mutta todella tyylikkäästä sellaisesta. Taustat ja basso kompressoidaan täysin överiksi niin että tanssilattialla ei voi muuta kuin tanssia hullun lailla tai juosta karkuun kädet korvilla. Jostain tälläisestä olen haaveillut jo monta vuotta ja nyt se on täällä.

Muutaman muun ed bangerin mainitakseni heidän listoilleen kuullu mm. Mr. Oizo, joka on oma pitkäaikainen suosikkini jo ajoilta ennen ed bangeriä. Kaikki varmaan muistaa flat beatin, sen mahtavalla bassolla varustetun klubihitin, joka soi 90 -luvulla joka paikassa, keltaisen pehmolelun heiluessa musiikkivideolla jättäen oman pienen jälkensä aikansa populaarikulttuuriin. Mies jatkaa vielä nykyäänkin musiikin tekemistä ja vastaa muun muassa suurimman osan uffien biisien tuottamisesta. Muukin nykytuotanto on todella laadukasta tavaraa vaihtaen herran aikaisemman, aika kokeellisen hiphopin raikkaaseen ja mukavalla tavalla nyrjähtäneeseen tanssimusiikkiin. Muita mainitsemisen arvoisa kiinnityksiä on kovassa nosteessa olevan ranskalaisen rapryhmän TTC:n tuottaja para one ja porukan ehkä raffeimmat tanssikoukut tuottava sebastian.

Vicarious bliss on yksi Ed bangerin nousevista nimistä. Tähän asti lähinnä muille remiksejä tehnyt artisti hioo paraikaa omaa debyytti -levyään yhtiön suojissa. Nyt on mahdollisuus päästä todistamaan nousevaa tähteä, ennen sen breikkaamista isompiin kuvioihin, kun ansioitunut helsinkiläinen “indie disco” misf*ts tuo sen Suomeen. Misf*ts on DJ Erkon ja Marko Makeloven Helsingin redrumissa pyörittämä klubi, joka on kerännyt kiitosta ja kunniaa jo noin vuoden ajan lennättämällä Suomeen tasaiseen tahtiin kiinnostavia indie uutuuksia ja sekoittamalla päiväjärjestyksen niin, että viikonloppu alkaa meille jo torstaina.

back to the basics

Ensimmäinen kirjoitus, niin pidetään aika simppelinä. Aika harvoin nykyään tulee vastaan hip hoppia, joka jaksaisi oikeasti innostaa. Hauskaa huomata että sen tekee joku näinkin yksinkertainen kappale kuin Red Astaire: No mo’. Biisi on yhtä lyhyt ja ytimekäs kuin nimensäkkin, mutta annetaan sen itse puhua puolestaan. kerrassaan viehättävää!
